A year with a Vancouver branding agency
For a year I freelanced full time with a branding agency, on new residential launches. It was fast, varied and hands-on, and taught me a lot about new construction, photography, copywriting and keeping a brand cohesive across everything it touches.

Photo shoots
I wrote photography briefs and shot lists, coordinated with local business owners, and was the point of contact on set. Sometimes I was second camera, and on occasion the model. Across two big shoots, my job was to keep everything on brand, on budget and on time.
Presentation centres
Much of the physical work began with an architect's CAD file. I cleaned it up in Illustrator, overlaid the new wall designs and colour-coded each one, so printers and fabricators knew exactly what went where: feature walls, hoarding and brochures.
Web
Website concepts and sites for the agency's clients.

Keeping it all on track
Alongside the design work, I project managed deliverables, followed up with vendors and print, and kept several launches moving at once between the studio, the client and the people building it.
Two local fashion brands
For two local fashion brands, I was the visual designer and digital marketing manager, looking after the weekly rhythm of email, social and the online store.
- Weekly emails. A Mailchimp email every Friday, featuring selected pieces from the collection.
- Social. Each email's header image remade into a post, plus giveaways to grow the audience.
- Photo shoots. On set for the shoots, then editing the images, most of it in Photoshop.
- Shopify. Adding and editing products and pages, and creating custom discount codes for sales.
- Patterns. Custom patterns designed in Illustrator.
What I took with me: how to keep a brand cohesive across a brochure, a Friday email and the side of a building.
